Organic Rankine Cycle

The Organic Rankine cycle (ORC) is a modified Rankine cycle using an organic, high molecular mass fluid to enable energy extraction of low enthalpy energy streams. The organic fluid features a lower boiling point, also known as liquid-vapor phase change, than water which is commonly known to boil at 100C. The Organic Rankine Cycle is well suited for energy sources like biomass combustion, industrial waste heat geothermal heat solar ponds etc. Having been successfully demonstrated back in 1961 the technology is nowadays well established and understood.
