Jim Johnston

Professor, Victoria University of Wellington

Professor Jim Johnston holds a PhD and has a personal Chair in Chemistry at the School of Chemical and Physical Sciences, Victoria University of Wellington. He is a Fellow of the Royal Society of New Zealand and Fellow of the New Zealand Institute of Chemistry. His research is concerned with the innovative development of new materials and new chemical process technologies and has received a number of awards acknowledging his work. Jim and his research team have developed a new technology to remove problematic supersaturated dissolved silica in geothermal water as a useful calcium silicate material. This has the potential to obviate silica deposition in geothermal environments and enhance energy recovery from separated geothermal water. Jim will be speaking to this topic at the conference.
