Binary fluids

Research on binary fluids is currently based on fluid interaction with materials as well as their performance in field / lab based geothermal waste heat environments (AGGAT environments). For this a materials knowledge base is being developed that will identify and characterise standard and novel materials and surface modifications for the AGGAT environment and key components: piping, separators, heat exchangers, and expanders with specific reference to the primary geothermal and associated heat sources and working fluids. Corrosion performance, scaling, heat transfer, thermal and corrosion fatigue, welding and surface modification as well as economic and sustainability aspects are considered. Working fluids are investigated for their thermodynamic, environmental, safety and process related performance.
