Reference sites

One of the major objectives from the AGGAT program is to develop reference plants for member companies involved in the programme to demonstrate latest AGGAT innovations. This also provides an opportunity to showcase manufacturing talent whilst at the same time being a vehicle for market entry of newly developed AGGAT products.

Heat transfer testing rig

An industrially funded heat transfer test facility is in use by the AGGAT team to collect heat transfer data from chemically engineered geothermal brine accurately controlled for its composition.

Power generation testing rigs

  Our researchers, along with industrial support have designed and installed a lab scale power generation test rig using waste heat from a gas turbine to generate close to 1kW of electricity. The rig is subject to continuous improvement as higher degree of instrumentation and capability gets added to it through current research work. HERA industry members have generously supported the completion of this rig through commitments in kind and cash as well as contributions through fabrication of equipment required for the rig.

Surface coating technologies

Pulsed-Pressure Metal-organic Chemical Vapour Deposition (PP-MOCVD) deposits a thin film of ceramic materials onto a heated substrate. A research-scale system is used to develop precursors and to explore new materials. The materials are then characterised through surface analysis facilities such as the Scanning Electron Microscope (SEM).
