Design and Modelling - Power Cycles, System Components and FEA techniques

Our research teams have developed models of power generation cycles for well-characterised heat resources to provide an understanding on the power generating potential from a given resource. These models have been developed to assess various heat resources and also process designs. Currently, all the models are based on the principles of the Organic Rankine Cycle (ORC). The models also provide mechanical design information on the various components of the ORC system which has proven to be an invaluable resource for our industry partners in proceeding with their development work for their 100-250kW plants.

Specialist modelling services and advanced Finite Element Analysis techniques (FEA) using implicit and explicit codes enabling fully coupled multi-physics simulation such as fluid-structure interactions  are also part of AGGAT team capabilities, and are pre-dominantly used for solving structural/mechanical issues.
