Surface studies - Ion Beam Analysis (IBA)

Ion Beam Analysis (IBA) is a range of techniques that can be used to determine the variation in elemental composition on the surface of a material. Surface composition strongly influences the material properties dictating their behaviour in relation to surface scaling/ fouling and corrosion under different environmental conditions. Through program partnership with GNS, this surface analysis technique and significantly more in terms of highly specialist technical services based at GNS will be used to understand the science and behaviour of materials under different physical environments.
